Hydrogen

Fuelling a green future

The fight against global warming and climate change is a challenge that affects everyone – in all countries and industries. Numerous nations have already committed to reducing energy consumption and have agreed to ambitious goals to minimise carbon emission-related effects. However, the transition from conventional to renewable energy, such as wind and solar power, is just a first step in achieving these goals.

WHY IS HYDROGEN IMPORTANT?

Hydrogen as an energy carrier offers the extensive potential to support decarbonisation efforts. Hydrogen can be used as a storage medium to further advance the integration and use of energy from renewable sources and as a sector coupling technology to decarbonise all energy sectors. This has been recognised by the UK where legislation has been passed to reduce emissions to net zero by 2050.

In principle, all industry-driven countries have not only understood the role of hydrogen to reach climate goals but have started to support the introduction of hydrogen in projects reaching from the generation of green hydrogen over transportation to hydrogen usage in widespread applications.

The roles of Hydrogen

TÜV SÜD’S SOLUTIONS FOR HYDROGEN TECHNOLOGY

At TÜV SÜD, we support our customers with services to make sure that hydrogen projects are safe, efficient and economical. Services include:

  • Safety case management & strategy – TÜV SÜD is  experienced in building safety cases for industrial environments and can help create right first time safety cases for hydrogen infrastructure systems.

WHY CHOOSE TÜV SÜD FOR HYDROGEN ENERGY SOLUTIONS?

At TÜV SÜD, we are committed to applying our vast expertise and experience with hydrogen and related technologies to support the development of safe, secure and reliable hydrogen energy solutions.

TÜV SÜD has experience over the whole value chain of hydrogen and life cycle of hydrogen technologies. We use our experience across safety-critical sectors (oil & gas, nuclear, aerospace & defence, medical, etc) that can be applied to the clean energy sector.

TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory is the UK’s Designated Institute for flow and density measurement standards, funded by BEIS.  It provides the UK’s measurement traceability that underpins all flow and density measurements, and transactions based upon these. It has a crucial role in providing testing infrastructure and measurement expertise to support the transition to clean fuels.
