Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

The TÜV SÜD UK Group recognises the fundamental importance of ethical business and supply chain operations. We continue to monitor, review and take reasonable steps to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking do not contribute to any aspect of our business. We acknowledge our responsibilities under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and, accordingly, have produced this Statement with respect to the prevention of modern slavery for the financial year ending 31 December 2021. This Statement was approved by the UK Board on 7 April 2021.

TÜV SÜD Group Structure and Business

TÜV SÜD UK Group provides testing, certification, consultancy and training services to both UK and international customers, operating through two legal entities: TUV SUD Limited and TUV SUD BABT Unlimited, which are both subsidiaries of TUV SUD (UK) Limited. There is also a service company, TUV SUD Services UK Limited which provides internal services to the UK trading entities. We employ around 600 personnel in the UK, generating annual turnover of around £60m across a wide range of industries covering Aerospace, Defence, Medical, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Real Estate and Telecommunications. All UK entities are subsidiaries of our parent organisation, TÜV SÜD AG, which is headquartered in Munich.

Supply Chains

As we are essentially a service provider, our supply chains primarily procure support services and, to a much lesser extent, materials to deliver our specialist technical services. We expect our suppliers to adhere to our standard procurement terms and conditions which contractually require them to comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Group Policies

TÜV SÜD’s Code of Ethics describes the values and principles which all personnel and suppliers are expected to uphold. All employees receive on-line training on the Code of Ethics.

Our recruitment practices ensure, through comprehensive identity checks, that individuals are permitted to work in the UK. All workers benefit from working conditions and contractual provisions of employment that meet all applicable UK legislation on areas including working hours, holiday, pay and equality. We operate a confidential Whistleblowing Process which enables transgressions to be brought to the attention of senior management on an anonymous basis. 

Due Diligence

Before engaging new suppliers, we require them to register on our Global Supplier Portal where they are required to familiarise themselves with our Code of Ethics.

TRAINING AND Employee Awareness

The Executive Management of TÜV SÜD UK Group is conversant with the measures required to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and all procurement personnel undertake annual training focussed on the requirements of the Act.

We review our adherence to our legal obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 on an annual basis.
