Raymond Chlebicki - Director of Sales, MHS, at TÜV SÜD AmericaRay Chlebicki

Director of Sales, MHS, at TÜV SÜD America

#FutureInYourHands – This motto properly describes how TÜV SÜD empowers its employees. It’s best to hear from TÜV SÜD executives and staff members what their personal experiences are working for TÜV SÜD.

Can you describe your role within the company?
I am the North American Director of Sales for Medical and Health Science (MHS). I have the distinct pleasure of leading the North American sales team, which consists of Account Executives and a Sales Development Representative (Inside Sales). Ultimately, I’m responsible for top-line sales and the mentoring and development of my sales team.

How did you choose this career path?
I’ve always had a passion for anything related to medicine and healthcare. That passion led me to start my professional career in the Pharmaceutical Industry and eventually into the Testing and Certification Industry, specifically involved with Medical Devices. Over the course of my career, I’ve worked in various sales roles and eventually decided to move into a leadership position. I moved my career down the leadership path to mentor and lead individuals and teams. I wanted to be in a position to allow salespeople to experience what can be achieved by working together on a strong team and how teamwork can build synergies not possible on an individual basis. I also feel an obligation to help develop the future leaders of this company and industry.

Are there challenges you've faced in your career that have taught you important lessons?
I think it’s important to control all the controllable variables and not worry about the rest. Maintaining consistency and staying focused on the task at hand allows us to perform our best work. Nothing is a substitute for hard work and commitment. I’ve also learned that servant leadership is the kind of leadership that solidifies a team. It’s imperative to stand side-by-side next to the people that you work with. Do what you love and love what you do, and everything will fall into place. Remember, nothing big happens overnight, but hard work and an ambition will lead you to achieve your goals.

What do you think the industry will look like 20 years from now?
The industry will continue to evolve overtime. I believe it will grow, as will our company. I also think that manufacturers will move to have a closer relationship with the TIC industry. I see the industry engaging earlier with TIC companies and forming more of a partnership, taking advantage of each other’s various strengths. So, I see a bright future for the industry.

When not working, how do you spend your spare time?
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful wife and two adult children. As for hobbies, I enjoy flying (I have a pilot’s license) and scuba diving. Most Sunday mornings, you can find me on the golf course.
